Animal Care Trust (ACT), MANGALORE is a registered charitable trust,  founded in the year 2000 with the main aim and objective of helping sick, injured, diseased stray animals, birds who had no place to go or no one to look after. To give such animals a life devoid of pain, hunger and give them shelter, medical aid till they recover completely and become fit enough to go back to their areas our trust was formed. ACT  is recognized by Animal Welfare Board of India.  In addition to the main activities enumerated below  ACT  conducts humane education program, has an active fostering, volunteer group. 

Main activities:  

1. Rescue operations - In the last 20 years more than 35,000 animals, birds have been rescued. In the year 2019-2020 alone 2753 animals helped.

2. Animal Birth Control and Anti -rabies vaccination of stray dogs and cats: ACT works with the city corporation and panchayaths, town municipalities in conducting this program. Over 15,000 dogs have been subjected to this program so far. In the year 2019-2020 alone 1798 dogs subjected to ABC/ARV. Community cats are caught by staff, volunteers and feeders and subjected to ABC/ARV.

 3. Adoption of Desi animals: Let’s Go Desi, Be Indian Adopt Indian Pups and Kittens. More than 7,000 pups and kittens given in loving homes. In the year 2019-2020 alone 553 animals given in adoption. Adoption camps are conducted every month in addition to adoption facility at the shelter.
